My Story
I am a mechanical engineer turned yoga teacher.
My yoga journey began with a few false starts. I encountered yoga several times over the years, but never stuck with it. I thought it wasn't for me: too slow, too boring.

It wasn't until 2010 whilst I was living in Mumbai (India) that my true love for yoga began. Trying to get fit again after five pregnancies and four children I had taken up running, but this led to a persistent knee injury. I was also suffering with anxiety at the time, so after reading about the benefits of yoga I decided to give it another try.
To my surprise, the classes were physically demanding, and yet I felt very peaceful at the end, every single time. When I first saw my teacher perform a headstand I was inspired.
Despite being the inflexible yogi in the room, I persisted. The more classes I attended, the more interested I became in the practice: the yoga philosophy, the purpose of each pose, and the breathing techniques. It was this curiosity - and the desire to do it all correctly - that led me enrol in multiple teacher trainings.

I moved to Shanghai, China in 2012 and completed my first 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training in Hatha Yoga with John Walker at The Orange Room, Shanghai in 2013, and began teaching. The following year I took the supplementary 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher training with John to become a 500 hour qualified teacher. In 2016, I broadened my expertise with an additional 200 hours of training in Vinyasa Yoga with Rajeev Drishti at Drishti Vinyasa Yoga Shala, also in Shanghai. I have completed 100 hours pre and postnatal yoga at The Clinic International in Shanghai and 50 hours Ashtanga with the Kamal Singh from Tattvaa Yoga Shala in Rishikesh, India. My qualifications are rounded out with many other 30, 40 and 50 hour trainings, special mention to Ashtanga Immersions with Richard Freeman & Mary Taylor and David Swenson. I have also done two meditation intensives with Carlos Pomeda as well as a Menopause Yoga teacher training with Petra Coveney.

Inspired by these Indian and American mentors, I developed my own teaching style that combines respect for the traditional practice with modern approaches to flexibility and functional movement, aiming to bring greater understanding and depth to dedicated practitioners, facilitating a natural progression always based on a strong foundation. I worked at Drishti Vinyasa Yoga Shala and Z&B Fitness in Shanghai, amassing thousands of hours of teaching experience with practitioners of all levels.
